Microsoft announces windows phone 7 sync software for macs due this year

October 13th, 2010

Even though we kind of saw this coming, it’s still nice to hear. Microsoft has gone and done the (nearly) unthinkable, announcing this evening plans for a Mac compatible sync client for its soon-to-be-launched Windows Phone 7 devices.

According to a statement from the company issued late in the day, beginning some time “later in 2010″ Mac users will be able to live the dream along with their PC counterparts by downloading a beta OS X application which will allow you to sync “select content” from a Mac of their choosing to a Windows Phone.

The company was short on details, but hopefully we can pry more info out the big M in the coming days. For now, we can all bask in the shocking open-mindedness of this news, and give the folks in Redmond a golf clap for finally acknowledging that yes, some Mac owners may actually want to get in on the Windows Phone party.

As for Hell, there haven’t been any reports of recent temperature changes, but we’ll keep you posted as we get more information. For your perusal, the full statement:

Later in 2010 Microsoft will make a public beta available of a tool that allows Windows Phone 7 to sync select content with Mac computers.

Windows 7 crash? it Ii easy to fix It

September 16th, 2010

Windows 7 Crash is a common problem that users face. This is one of the major problems that the users face when they are in the middle of something. Once you stumble upon computer crashes, you should fix the errors fast or it can lead to the complete shut down of your system.

Viruses, corruption in the registry, junk files, low memory and irrelevant programs can all lead to Windows 7 Crash. Once the computer crashes, the first thing you have to do is to identify the cause. Once you are aware of the causes that lead to the crash, it is so easy to redeem the problem.

Always make sure that you have very healthy anti-virus tool in your computer. These anti-virus software can block and also delete the viruses that could harm some of the files. If a healthy anti-virus tool is already installed in the PC, the crashes problem would be not related Virus.

Another reason for Windows 7 Crashes is the running of unnecessary programs. Identify the programs, some may be hidden, and uninstall them. If lots of applications are running in the computer, it could eat up a large part of the memory. However, this problem would rarely cause computer crash and it is not a big deal to the computer which has enough RAM. More RAM can help the applications run very smoothly and prevent the computer from frequent crashes.

Windows 7 Crashes also because of faulty drivers. The drivers that are not in tune with your system can make the computer slow down and crash. When using drivers, make sure that you have the latest ones that fit the system requirements.

The above problems are not import reasons to get computer crashed. Even though one of them cause the crash, it is very easy to fix it manually. The most important reason is the Windows 7 registry. It is the registry where most of the relevant data are stored. If any file in the registry gets corrupted, then the computer can crash. Once you clean the entire corrupt registry, then you can see that your computer performs in a good condition. You can clean the registry on your own or approach a technician to do the job for you. It is very hard for the user to fix registry manually, and very expensive to appeal to a technician. So the best option is to do the cleaning using registry cleaning software.

Whats the Best Computer Monitoring Software?

September 2nd, 2010

There is so much information available on the computer today, especially over the Internet, that employers, concerned parents and wary partners alike are all taking precautionary steps to have computers monitored for inappropriate use or content. Competition between computer monitoring program companies is tough, and deciding what is the best computer monitoring software out there can be confusing. The range seems endless, and so do the features and price tags, and can be a daunting task to choose one that suits your needs.

Computer monitoring software is often also called keylogger software or spyware, and can range from basic free programs that simply log keystrokes, to full on programs that can filter content, take screenshots, generate detailed reports and monitor usage on a fairly comprehensive level. So what is the best computer monitoring software around? If you take the time to read detailed reviews on the Internet, you’ll find that Web Watcher, Spector Pro and SpyAgent are all big names in the monitoring software industry, and all are fairly reliable and thorough monitoring programs. Web Watcher is unique in that content can be monitored from a web browser, rather than from a specific computer, which makes it easy to use on a larger scale, for example in a large company or school. Spector Pro and SpyAgent are also very good, and offer comprehensive monitoring features that are relatively easy to use.

There are dozens of other monitoring programs out there that are less pricey and offer the basic keystroke logging capabilities, however, if you are looking for an all-inclusive package, then Web Watcher is definitely what is the best computer monitoring software available at the moment. If you are serious about monitoring computer usage, then it is certainly worth the investment. Keep in mind, however, that whilst PC monitoring software itself is legal, it is illegal to install it on a computer that does not belong to you, or that you are not an authorized administrator of.

Insertion press ensures correct use of fasteners

August 26th, 2010

The Haeger 824 Windowtouch-3 insertion press, available via Shear-Form Machine Tools, ensures that the correct fastener is used every time, thus improving insertion productivity and component quality.

Whether a company’s fabrication shop is new to hardware insertions or already inserts millions of fasteners every year, the press is intended to make life easier for the operator by ensuring that the right insertion is used in the right place.

This eliminates damage to parts during the insertion process with no rejected components owing to missing fasteners.

At the same time, fast ram speeds will increase productivity.

If a fabrication shop is equipped with laser punching and cutting equipment, it is sensible to have an insertion press to maintain product quality throughout the manufacturing process, according to Shear-Form.

The insertion press is claimed to produce a fast payback time on the initial investment.

A laser-part-locating light uses a red cross hair laser to show the operator exactly where each fastener should be inserted, while the digital camera interface can take images of the positions of fasteners on a finished component and import that information into the equipment’s part program for future recall.

Haeger’s Insertiongraphics software provides a visual guide to the insertion process.

Full-colour component images can be displayed on the computer touch screen, with each fastener position on a component being displayed with a colour-coded flashing dot.

Different colours are used to identify different types of insertions, helping to ensure that no fasteners are missing and that the correct one is inserted.

The Insertionlogic software includes a full-colour teach screen to set up the sequence in which different fasteners are inserted, a main operation screen to provide control of program parameters and program setup to enable the operator to store different job specifications and see what tooling modules to use, while a fastener library allows jobs to be set up effectively and quickly.

The new insertion press is designed to apply insertions into thin-gauge materials and other applications where absolute repeatability (+/-0.5 per cent) is critical.

It has a force range from 4kN to 72kN, a throat depth of 610mm and throat height of 342mm.

Other features include a multi-shuttle tooling platform for nuts, studs and stand-offs that reduces the tool-changing time to about two minutes without the need for re-alignment, the Turret Insertion System (TIS-2), which enables up to four different fasteners to be inserted in one part handling, and a positive locking station that ensures that the operator has activated the correct tool station and that there is no tool movement when the insertion takes place.

The tool position feedback eliminates missing fasteners by stopping the operator from moving on to the next fastener until the current fastener is inserted.

Is your software chargeback algorithm linked to the cost driver of consumption?

August 25th, 2010

I have found that chargeback algorithms are typically deeply enmeshed in the fabric of the enterprise and usually very difficult to change. In many cases they are also not based on the true cost driver of providing the software. Usage valuation is a technique by which user management can be made aware of the true cost of their software consumption, indicating changes to usage patterns that may be made to the overall benefit of all.

A classic example of this occurs in engineering applications, most of which use the concurrent usage licensing model. With this model the peak concurrency level determines the software cost, yet most chargeback algorithms are based on hours of usage, which outside peak periods, actually cost nothing more than the infrastructure support component.

An imaginative way around this dichotomy is to leave the chargeback system in place as it would be too difficult to change anyway, and to generate a new set of reports based on the metric by which software is charged by the vendor and calculate the value of the software usage received by each cost center / department / business unit. This information would be used to inform user management in several key ways:

– The profile of the tools used (across all license models)
– The usage patterns exhibited
– The adherence to guidelines on prudent software consumption
– The means to arrive at better use habits

Because they would be based on true cost drivers, the usage valuation reports would also be useful in these important areas:

– Vendor negotiation / true-up
– As a tool to evaluate competitive products / vendors
– As preparation for budgetary planning

Conclusion: By avoiding the thorny issue of chargeback, the enterprise can generate meaningful and useful management information without major upheaval.
