Apple unveils mac os x lion operating system

October 20th, 2010

Apple is giving a preview of new software that runs on its Mac computers.

The new version, called Mac OS X Lion, will include a store for Mac software. It’s similar to the iTunes store that sells apps for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Apple also is adding FaceTime video chatting to Macs. That feature debuted this summer on the iPhone 4.

Other features mimic those on the iPhone or iPad. Mac users can move from the main desktop to a “dashboard” filled with widgets by swiping a multitouch mouse or trackpad. People can drag one program icon on top of another to create a new folder.

Lion is expected during summer 2011. Apple didn’t say how much it would cost.
