Waterloo, Ont.-based company Athena Software has partnered with Australian consulting firm Sinapse to provide support and training for users of Athena’s Penelope case management software application in Australia and New Zealand.

Effective May 2012, Sinapse will handle aspects of technical support, deployment and training services for Athena Software’s clients in Australia and New Zealand.

“We’re extremely pleased to partner with one of Australia’s leading technology companies to provide top-quality, timely and knowledgeable support and deployment services to our rapidly growing client base across Australia and New Zealand,” said Greg Stanley-Horn, director of deployment at Athena. “Sinapse has an outstanding reputation and a tremendous track record working with world-class companies such as Newcrest Mining, Victorian Government, Toyota, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline, so we’re quite delighted to partner with them on sales, support and deployment opportunities.”

Sinapse is a consulting firm founded in 2008 and based in Richmond, Victoria in Australia. Since its inception, the company has expanded to include over 50 full-time consultants. Besides its consulting work in the mining, pharmaceutical, automotive and construction industries, Sinapse also works with the not-for-profit sector, a major source of Athena’s burgeoning client base in Australia and New Zealand.

“We are delighted to join with Athena in assisting their customer base in Australia and New Zealand. We have complementary skills to Athena with strong systems implementation and change-management capabilities that can help clients in their Penelope implementations,” said Noel Thurlow, Sinapse partner for the public and not-for-profit sector.

Joanna Retnam, Sinapse project manager, brings extensive implementation experience with Athena Software through hands-on implementations with various community-sector agencies in Australia.

The agreement with Sinapse also corresponds with Athena Software’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint as a pledging partner with the not-for-profit organization Sustainable Waterloo Region. Stanley-Horn and other Athena staff have made numerous business trips to Australia to provide training and sales demonstrations to current and potential clients — with the Sinapse partnership now in place, that will mean a significant decrease in travel miles for Athena staff.
