IBM has released an update to its software platform for commerce.
The company said that its Smarter Commerce initiative would bring updates for the software enterprises use for both consumer and business-to-business transactions.
The effort will push software and services for marketing as well as tools to conduct and process transactions.
The platform will include additions to both the IBM CoreMetrics and WebSphere brands. The services will include tools to help companies track user feedback and behaviour on web sites as well as analytics tools to track and analyse marketing programs.
Additionally, the platform will bring tools to help companies track supply chains and inventory management.
IBM industry solutions general manager Craig Hayman said that the Smarter Commerce campaign is seeking to address issues that arise as customers increasingly look to the web and social networking for information while enterprises also look to adapt to new platforms.
“These businesses must connect to these customers where and how they prefer to buy to be successful,” said Hayman.
“At the same time, they need to make sure they have the means of effectively managing their supplier and trading partner network to ensure they have the products at the right time and place to meet this new customer demand.”
