Aras®, the leading enterprise open source Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software solution provider, today announced NorthRidge Software, an independent software provider (ISV) and developer of advanced search solutions located in Windham, New Hampshire, has joined the Aras partner program. NorthRidge is developing a sophisticated search solution for the Aras Innovator PLM software suite using Apache Lucene, an open source search engine. The NorthRidge solution provides users with a simple, fast and secure interface for accessing the full range of complex data sets managed in Aras Innovator, as well as information stored in other locations such as intranet sites, SharePoint, file shares or any place where relevant content resides. The solution will be available for download from the Aras Community website in the 4th quarter of 2010.
PLM solutions encompass a wide range of complex data and files in a variety of formats, including CAD files, quality data, regulatory specifications, requirements, BOMs and more. With the NorthRidge Search Solution, Aras Innovator users can locate drawings, documents and other information by searching on keyword terms, phrases in the content or metadata values. Searches are performed using a familiar Google-like user interface and results are presented with the most relevant documents appearing at the top of the list, which can be tuned to meet users’ specific requirements.
“We are excited to bring advanced search capabilities to Aras users and we’re even more excited that NorthRidge is building the solution on Lucene and using their know-how to tailor it to the specific needs of the Aras Community,” said Peter Schroer, President of Aras. “Using a Lucene/Solr technology stack to build an enterprise search solution underscores the unlimited potential of open source in the corporate environment. “
