Motorola Mobility has launched the Motorola Edge service assurance software suite for cable and telecommunication operators. The software suite is a set of customer care applications for the home network. By deploying Edge, operators can activate, provision, maintain and support all broadband services in a multi-screen digital home. The software family includes Motorola’s Edge Manager remote management software platform that supports Broadband Forum’s TR-069, SNMP, OMA-DM, WIB, Telnet and HTTP DL server protocols. With integration features into the operator’s existing OSS and billing systems, Edge Manager can support millions of devices in a single deployment. Motorola’s Edge Manager offers optional modules to assist operators with future service expansions. The Docsis 3.0 Speed Test is available with select Motorola Docsis 3.0 CPE. The options include Wimax Management, HomeNet Gateway Management, a pre-built suite of diagnostics and use cases for remote management of home gateways, Microsoft Mediaroom Set-top Management for connection and management of Microsoft Mediaroom-enabled set-tops. The options also include Smartstream Terminal Data Collector, a set-top diagnostic aggregation service, Voice Management, which is a pre-built suite of diagnostics and use cases for VoIP deployments and Mobile Management, which includes an integration management client for Android-based mobile devices. The Edge software suite will also include Motorola’s eCare and MotoPLYR applications. Motorola eCare is a support centre application that enables HelpDesk agents to have user authorised remote access and/or remote control of customer desktops. ECare provides real-time diagnostics and delivery of scripts that can reconfigure browser, e-mail or other settings. Motorola’s MotoPLYR is a diagnostic application for IPTV set-tops, from both Motorola and select third-party vendors that allows real-time self-diagnostics and reporting.
