K Games made the official announcement today that the game is being finished by Gearbox Software and is set to release within the next year. Gearbox is best known for its most recent title: Borderlands.
After being announced in 1997, DNF has had developmental problems year after year. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford said that his company picked up development in late 2009 and is currently just polishing the game up.
A playable demo of the game will be available for press and the public this weekend at PAX.
